Today is the final New Moon of 2023.
Over the years, I have woven a few rituals, intentions, and magical ideas together to celebrate December’s New Moon. This is an ideal time for setting intentions and vision-casting the possibilities for the year ahead.
Here are some things you can do to honor this moon phase:
1: Take Time For Yourself
This time of year is filled with consumerism and senseless hustle energy… There is always somewhere to be and something to do… reclaim your time and invest in yourself.
Is there a book you have been meaning to read or listen to?
Is there a MasterClass you have had on your vision board all year?
Have you been dreaming of taking the weekend off to write or walk or renew your mind in nature?
Now is the time. Carve out time for yourself this week…
2: Take Time To Reflect On The Year
Here are a few of my favorite reflection questions to inspire you…
1: What were your most significant lessons in the past year?
Reflect on the experiences that taught you valuable insights. Consider both challenges and successes. What did these moments reveal about yourself, your values, and your priorities? Embrace the lessons, whether they were moments of triumph or adversity, and let them shape your growth.
2: How did you nurture your well-being and self-care throughout the year?
Take a moment to evaluate the practices contributing to your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. What self-care rituals did you incorporate into your routine? Whether it's mindfulness, exercise, creative pursuits, or moments of stillness, acknowledge the positive habits that support your overall wellness.
3: How did you connect with others and build meaningful relationships?
Consider the relationships that enriched your life during the past year. How did you nurture connections with friends, family, or your community? Reflect on moments of shared joy, support, and growth. Whether through communication, acts of kindness, or shared experiences, appreciate the bonds that add warmth and depth to your journey.
3: Step Outside And Breathe Deeply
It is as simple as it sounds. Open the door, walk outside, close your eyes, and breathe deeply.
Try box breathing… Inhale for a count of 4. Hold for 4. Exhale for 4. Hold for 4. (Don’t hold your breath if you are pregnant or have heart issues.)
Live near trees? Take some time to sit underneath them, walk barefoot on the earth, and ground yourself. This brings me so much peace and I pray it does the same for you.
May you find joy in the sweet moments as you celebrate this final New Moon of the year.
Wrapping you in love and light,
